dataMatters was founded in 2018 by Dr. Patrick Mattfeld and Dr. Daniel Trauth as a spin-off of RWTH under the name senseering GmbH. The rename came in 2024 to make the value we deliver easier to communicate.
Since day one, our focus has been turning data from the real economy into value through digital services, AI solutions and digital business models. To do this, dataMatters builds software covering the essentials of data analysis and AI development, with a focus on technical time-series data that needs to work in real time.

Daniel drives the digital transformation of municipalities and the real economy. As founder and serial entrepreneur in industrial IoT and green blockchain solutions, he combines a Smart City vision with hands-on entrepreneurial experience. PhD from RWTH Aachen in mechanical engineering and business administration; he founded his first IT company at the age of 18.

Joachim makes sure the Smart City runs reliably: he owns DevOps and infrastructure and brings the sensors into operation, from the LoRaWAN gateway to the field device. Computational Engineering Science (M.Sc.) at RWTH Aachen, preceded by six years of research at the WZL.
Manuel is team lead for the CityApp project (cityPilot) and heads up frontend development. As project manager he supports clients such as Stadt Neuss and the Landesgartenschau Neuss 2026 with the myLAGA app on their major IoT and Smart City initiatives, alongside other municipalities. His background combines business informatics with a passion for graphic design and user-friendly apps.
